2014 Open Nordic Championships in Formula and Slalom
Notice of Race
Denmark, Nyborg, August 29-31st 2014
1.1 The 2014 Open Nordic Championships in Formula and Slalom will be held from Friday August 29th through Sunday August 31st 2014, in Nyborg, Denmark.
2.1 The Championships will be organised by Østfyns Brætsejler Klub as the Local Organising Authority (LOA). This event is sanctioned by: Danish Boardsailing Organisation and Skandivska SeglarForbundet.
3.1 The event will be based in Nyborg, Søbadet..
3.2 Take exit 45 on highway E20.
3.3 Nyborg is located 133 km from CPH, the nearest international airport.
3.4 Conditions to be expected: winds depending on prevailing weather system; water temperature 15-20°C; air temperature 15-25°C
The event shall be governed by
4.1 The 2013-2016 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), Windsurfing competition rules 2013-2016
4.2 The SKSF Nordic Championship Rules 2006
4.3.1 The IFWC Class rules(2013) & Championship Rules 2013 for Formula racing.
4.3.2 The International Funboard Class Rules 2012 and the Funboard Class Championship Rules 2013 for Slalom
4.4 This Notice of Race (NoR) & the Sailing Instructions (SIs)
The event is a category ‘C’ event as set out in ISAF Regulation 20 – Advertising Code.
5. ELIGIBILITY & DISCIPLINE
5.1 All entries shall meet the requirements of ISAF Regulation 19 – Eligibility Code.
5.2 All competitors shall meet the requirements of SKSF Nordic Championship Rules
5.3 All competitors shall be a member of a national association that is member of the IFWC or IFCA
5.4 Competitors shall possess valid third party liability insurance.
6.1 The Classes will be Formula Windsurfing and Slalom.
6.2 There shall be a maximum of 4 races for Formula per day.
6.3 There are no limits on the number of Slalom series.
7.1 Gender: Men and Women.
7.2 Open – all sailors – including the below sub divisions
7.3 Women – all women (regardless of age)
7.4 Age divisons for men:
7.4.1 Junior – born 1998 or later
7.4.2 Youth – born in or after 1995 and not later than 2000
7.4.3 Master – born 1978 or earlier
7.4.4 Grand Master – born 1968 or earlier
8.1 All competitors shall bring their own equipment.
8.2 Three boards and six sails will be permitted for the Slalom discipline.
9. EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
9.1 It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that his/her board and equipment conforms to the Class Rules.
9.2 The equipment inspectors will pay special attention to sail identification rule compliance.
9.3 Equipment checks may be made throughout the event.
10. SAIL INSIGNIAS
10.1 National letters & sail numbers shall be in a colour that contrasts strongly with the body of the sail; placed immediately above the event advertising; and positioned according to RRS App. G. Alternatively sail insignias may be placed back to back on a white background.
11.1 According to Danish legislation, each competitor & support boat crewmember shall wear a life vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4kg uninflated, in fresh water. It is emphasized that this rule is reinforced for all classes. The vest shall be worn at all times on the water during training and competition.
12.1 Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The LOA, DBO or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or representatives are not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water either to persons or equipment, which may result. Participation in this event, supporting events and in each race in them is at the sole discretion of the sailor and at his/her own risk.
13.1 Courses for Formula shall be as described in the IFWC Championship Rules, in the Sailing Instructions or as per race committee instructions.
13.2 Courses for Slalom shall be as described in the IFCC Championship Rules.
14.SAILING INSTRUCTIONS (SI)/
14.1 Minimum conditions for Formula racing:
14.1.1 The minimum condition for Formula racing shall be 10 knot on the course area for the duration of the race.
14.1.2 If 50% of the fleet is not planning the race shall be abandoned.
14.1.3 It is not recommended that Formula races are conducted in above 20 knot of wind.
14.2 Minimum conditions for Slalom racing:
14.2.1 The minimum condition for Slalom racing shall be 14 knot on the course area from 1 minute before the start until the duration of the heat.
14.2.2 If 50% of the fleet is not planning the heat shall be abandoned.
14.2.3 If 50% of the fleet is having to tack in order to make the marks the heat shall be abandoned.
14.3 Slalom heats:
14.3.1 If no more than 12 competitors. All will start in the final
14.3.2 If between 13 and 24 competitors. There will be two preliminary heats where the best 40% will advance to the final and the remaining will be in the loosers final.
14.3.3 If between 25 and 48 competitors. There will be three preliminary heats where the top 33% will go to the final, the next 33% will go to the silver final and the last 33% will go to the bronze final.
14.3.4 If between 49 and 72 competitors. There will be four preliminary heats where the top eight from each heat will go to the semifinal. The remaining competitors will go to the bronze final. From each semifinal the top 6 will go to the final. The remaining will go to the silver final.
14.3.5 If more than 72 competitors. A semilar heat division will be made.

16.1 The organiser will force a strict policy regarding rigging area and clear passages. Anyone not following the restrictions set out by the organisers can be disqualified after just one warning
17.1 Each participant shall be insured with a valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum insurance limit 300.000 euro or equivalent per event.
18. MEDALS AND PRIZES
18.1 Medals or trophies may be awarded up to the first 3 competitors in the Championship in each discipline and in combined, including Women, Youth and Masters, depending on entry numbers. Prize categories and the actual number of prizes to be awarded in each properly constituted division will be posted on the official notice board after the close of registration.
18.2 The winner of the Formula discipline shall be known as the Nordic Formula Windsurfing Champion. The winner of the Slalom discipline shall be known as the Nordic Slalom Champion. The winner of the combined shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Champion. A minimum of 25 participants is required to constitute an official Nordic Champion title in each discipline.
18.3 The first woman of the Formula discipline shall be known as the Nordic Formula Windsurfing Champion. The first woman of the Slalom discipline shall be known as the Nordic Slalom Champion. The first woman of the combined shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Champion. A minimum of 25 participants is required to constitute an official Nordic Champion title in each discipline.
18.4 The first youth of the Formula discipline shall be known as the Nordic Formula Windsurfing youth Champion. The first youth of the Slalom discipline shall be known as the Nordic Slalom youth Champion. The first youth of the combined shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing youth Champion. A minimum of 15 participants is required to constitute an official Nordic Champion title in each discipline.
18.5 Prize money will be awarded to top three in the Open division – 7.2. If a combined championship is acquired the prize money will only be awarded to the top three in combined championship. In the event that only one discipline is conducted the prize money will be awarded to top three in the conducted discipline.
18.6 Prize money split: 1st 1000 euro, 2nd 500 euro, 3rd 250 euro.
18.7 Prize money only to be awarded in official races – not in Fun Races.
18.8A minimum of three races must be completed in order to constitute Nordic championship titles. This also applies for prize money.
19. DRUG TESTING
19.1 Competitors are reminded of the ISAF rules and regulations concerning the use of banned methods and substances. Drug testing by AntiDoping Danmark IS LIKELY to take place during the event.
20. TELEVISION AND MEDIA
20.1 In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organising Authority the right in perpetuity to make, use and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said Championship as defined in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions in which he/she participates without compensation.
21. BIBS/VESTS & COMPETITORS SAIL BRANDING.
21.1 During racing, competitors may be required by the organisers to wear bibs/vests carrying the event sponsors’ branding; and carry the event sponsor’s advertising on their sails. The maximum size of the event-advertising sticker is 600mmX1000mm. The stickers may not be cut or trimmed in any way.
22. SOCIAL EVENTS
22.1 There will be an official dinner on Saturday evening for all competitors included in the entry fee.
23. ACCOMMODATION AND PARKING
23.1 All competitors may park their vehicles in the competitors’ area during the entire event. www.hotel-storebaelt.dk is partner of the event and has made a special offer for competitors.
24.1 A wide range of scheduled and charter flights are available from all over Europe.
24.2 Competitors must themselves arrange for transport from the airport.
25. ENTRIES & PAYMENT
25.1 The entry fee for all classes and divisions is 750 Dkr. (100 Euros). The cut-off date for pre-entry is August 10st, 2014. After august 10st the entry fee is 1100 dkr.(146 Euros)
25.2 Competitors shall enter in advance electronically by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com – Full name, date of birth and sailing number must be included. 25.3 The maximum number of entries is limited to 96 for Formula. The organizer and DBO will assign the starting slots based on a first-come-first-served principle combined with wild-card distribution.
